This was his home. This was the place where his name became symbolic inside the wrestling world. For Rob Van Dam, Extreme Championship Wrestling was his home. And it always would be. It was the place that put his name out on the map, and as a man who has had tremendous success within ECW. The revival of the company in itself caused a huge smile to come across the face of RVD as we watch eagerly as he steps inside the ECW arena for the first time in years. RVD shook his head as it took him back to his youth, a great feeling accomplishment came over his body as he shook his head with a large smile.
ROB VAN DAM
"This was my home. This was the place that made Rob Van Dam. You know something dude, I had some wars inside this ring. I went to toe with some of the greatest men who ever stepped inside this arena. People like Sabu, Taz, Dreamer, Raven -- They all knew what this was about, man. This was the spot to be in the mid 90's man. It wasn't like those other places. And for so long I was always labeled as a guy who wouldn't be able to cut it. I remember a certain company in Connecticut, they said I'd never achieve anything in this business. They said the whole f'n show was just another failed project in a small promotion brought to fame for hardcore antics, and I'll never forget that." (Rob shook his head as he scanned over the arena once again. The memories running through his mind like old times.) "And for those people who had such a vision, they constantly tried to keep me down. I remember it well, man. Big muscle and fitness over there said it like this: "Uh, Rob-uh, I like you man, but I just don't-uh think you're up to snuff-uh. You're not big enough-uh.", and that stuck to me. " (Rob rolls his tongue in his cheek as he shakes his head.) "There was never anything else I've wanted in life than standing right here inside this arena. All those naysayers can believe that they want to believe, but I'm confident in my abilities. I know what I'm able to do. I love these people, and man, ECW, being that is hardcore by most people standards -- It's also the place where the most SKILLED talents come to compete. I mean no disrespect to certain companies that have folded or companies in a decline, but Rob Van Dam doesn't care about the paycheck. I don't care about being on television sets across the world, that isn't why I do this, man." (Rob licks his lips as he shows a huge smile to the camera.) "I do it because I love this company man. I love the people that have walked through this arena, the people I've went to war with. The legends of ECW, man -- They're the ones that made this not only have me my humble beginnings, but it's also the reason that I became the human highlight reel. And truth be told, I've got this little itch on the back of my neck, and I'd love nothing more to scratch it. But before I can do that, man -- I have to get that ECW Championship, and I mean the REAL ECW Championship, but some knock off... (A quick shot to his past in other companies.) "But it's all a matter of time, because I've always been the whole FUCKING show -- And I'm ready as ever to prove, man -- It doesn't matter if it's WWE, WCW, or ECW, there is only one...
